Oliver Twist 孤雛淚
孤雛淚是我高中時第一本看的英文短篇故事，當時因為課業的繁忙並未完成這本書的閱讀，但對故事的內容有所感動，所以我選擇了它。
奧利佛的母親在他剛出生時便死去了，而奧利佛被送到了救濟院且在那成長。剛到救濟院的前幾年，奧利佛的內心常常感到孤獨與寂寞，在救濟院裡沒有關懷與愛，由於受不了孤獨與寂寞的痛苦煎熬，他逃離了救濟院到倫敦。
無依無助的他為了謀生，只好到棺材店當學徒，可是卻遭受旁人的欺負，受不了終日的欺辱，奧利佛選擇了再次的逃離。這時流落街頭的奧利佛因受騙而進入了竊盜集團，被迫當起了扒手。
一生皆遭受不幸的奧利佛試圖在黑暗裡摸索著生命的出口，在伸手不見五指的未來點起生命的蠟燭。
